Welcome. My name is Dean, I am a fifth-year PhD candidate in Applied Economics at Cornell University. I am an applied micro-economist particularly interested in policy relevant research about mitigating carbon emissions and adapting to climate change. Currently, I study whether carbon emissions and energy policies effectively and efficiently reduce emissions, and how their design may create unintended consequences. My work contributes to the literature on empirical assessments of climate policies and the welfare implications of these policies.
In my job market paper, I examine the effectiveness of subsidies for residential air-source heat pump adoption, a key policy lever for decarbonization. I use tools from the industrial organization literature to estimate the welfare consequences of these subsidies in the state of New York.
Please see my other working papers on the Research tab.
